  Descrizione : the watch is in overall good condition, the enamelling is top quality and most likely can be attributed to Graff, the condition is very good with minor surface wear, the dial appears to be in good condition, no apparent hairlines, the reverse of the case crisply engraved, reflecting that the watch was kept well, movement is running and also in good order, although probably would benefit from cleaning..What is exceptionally interesting is the fact that the watch is stamped is made in the USA, it would appear that present piece was commissioned and is of the highest quality and possibly intended as a gift..Please note that the portrait has been identified as the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad, wearing his coronation robe in 1911.

These most luxurious watches ever made had to feature as many complications and decorations as possible. The movements were mainly produced by the highly specialised watch manufacturers in the Vallée de Joux or Le Locle and delivered to the case makers in Geneva. The cases were almost exclusively done in the workshops of Ferrero, Tardy, Bonifas, Giron and Lamunière, based in Geneva. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, four subsidiary sunk dials for days of the week, date, months of the four year leap cycle and subsidiary seconds concentric with phases of the moon aperture. Blued steel spade hands. M. 44 mm. (20’’’), gilt brass, 31 jewels, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, repeating on gongs through activating slide in the band. Signed on dial and movement by the retailer, Grandjean Trademark on the case. Diam. 55 mm.

Designed in the Renaissance style, center with a seven-arm diamond-set star centered by a good-sized diamond encircled by small diamond-set double stars which, when put in motion, seem to drive the larger star, against a dark blue translucent enamel ground over fine flinqué, cylindrical gold housing encircled with rich diamond-set garlands, top with diamond-set sea shell with a pearl inside, surmounted by hinged diamond-set fleur de lis finial, at the bottom loose diamond-set tassel terminated with a pearl, hinged gold pin at the back, gold activating slide. M. 27 mm., brass full plate, going barrel, long train, anchor governor, allowing a long duration of movement..Dim. 43 x 80 mm.
