  Description : Asprey The Amorous Surprise. with manual winding mechanical jewelled movement, the oversized dial made of Royal blue enamel, applied white gold and diamond set Arabic numerals on white enamel circular cartouches, gold and red enamel floral design centrefield, decorative white gold and diamond hands, textured wheat sheaf bezel, the large circular case engine turned throughout the sides with gold twisted rope decoration with swinging epilette style accents, moving to reveal the winding and setting holes and the button for activating the automaton mechanism, the reverse showing an ornate fan form decoration to the top and bottom half, the panels of the fan made of gold with green, red and white enamel profuse floral decoration to each, when the button is depressed on the side of the case, each panel of the fan moves and folds up to reveal four multi-coloured enamel and painted erotic scenes, one scene of a gentleman and lady on horseback, the second scene of a couple lying on the floor in amorous embrace, the third scene of a couple enjoying each other's company near a window with another onlooker, the fourth scene of a gentleman and a lady frolicking in the haystack, each scene with three moving automaton, after a short while the fan panels fold and close again to conceal and stop the performing automaton, the circular gold case mounted on a large tapered engine turned gold pedestal with rope twist and epilette decoration cascading down and resting on a double stepped drum form base, the top part decorated in translucent red enamel above a guilloché background, wheat sheaf borders, the lower part of translucent Royal blue enamel above guilloché background, swathed throughout with rope twist and epilette style swag decoration and accented with round cut diamonds, the whole clock on a concealed turntable. Circular base on three stepped legs, translucent aqua enamel over guilloche with. diamond-set lines, polished gold rim, two sides with mother-of-pearl and enamel. inlaid gold Japanese Dogwood flowers, the front panel in two sections for the doors. which open by turning the mother-of-pearl engraved lotus flower on the top, the. doors with diamond-set borders and diamond and enamel Japanese Dogwood. flowers, all panels with translucent salmon enamel over guilloche, separated by. translucent white and aqua enamel over guilloche columns, set with diamonds on. the capitals, the very top lotus flower with a row of diamonds below and a large. amethyst in the centered bordered by diamonds. D. Aqua translucent enamel over guilloche, surrounded by a heart shaped diamond. set border, rotating with two other guilloche gold panels. Yellow gold baton hands. M. The Pagoda-form case with bombe sides heightened by a quilted pattern of mother of pearl accented with square-cut amethysts, flared base raised on onyx feet, and outswept entablature each set with graduating coral panels, the shaped top composed of frosted etched glass surmounted by medallion composed of buff-top amethysts, coral, round diamonds, and a sugarloaf amethyst, 18k yellow gold columns applied with round diamonds, flanking a frosted glass apse centered by a pair of hands set with round diamonds, which seemingly float and give the trompe l'oeil effect of a mystery clock, hands are attached to a mirror, the back fitted with door concealing the setting and quartz mechanism . the interior rim stamped with French gold marks for 18k and a makers mark, the base further applied with a plaque signed Asprey 750.height 18.5 cm
