The Breguet brand is a leading player in high-quality watchmaking.

Its founding genius, Abraham-Louis Breguet, was born in Neuchâtel in 1747. He worked his apprenticeship in Paris and was behind numerous technical innovations.

Some of his most notable inventions include the gong-spring for repeater watches (1783), an anti-impact mechanism also known as a “pare-chute” (1790), a watch with a perpetual calendar fitted with an automatic movement (1795), the Tourbillon regulator (1801) as well as the patent for the constant force escapement.

On the occasion of his appointment as Clockmaker to the Royal Navy in 1815, Abraham-Louis Breguet presented the first marine chronometer.

Ten years after Breguet’s death in 1823, his great grandson Louis-Clément Breguet took over the company, which was then renamed ‘Breguet Neveu et Compagnie’.

The brand has changed hands several times during its history.

The Swatch group has been sole owner of the Breguet brand since 1999.

Several Breguet models are famous around the world. One of the most emblematic is the Type XX Military, created in the 1950s for aviation pilots, emphasising the long-standing collaboration between Breguet and the aeronautical industry.

Breguet is proud of its global success and now has 32 stores in the world’s largest capital cities.
