Jaeger-LeCoultre Etrier Hermes Watches
In the 1930s Jaeger-LeCoultre created a gorgeous watch for women, known as the ‘Etrier’, French for ‘stirrup’, with a small case, an air of refined luxury and a leather strap attached to the watch by two gold stirrup-shaped fastenings.
It was inspired by the Art Deco movement and its androgynous appearance and sober style appealed to the modern woman.
This design has been in continuous production ever since and recently returned to the centre of the fashion stage on the wrists of today’s fashion icons.
From the 1930s onwards, Hermes’s range of watches, often manufactured in collaboration with watchmakers such as Universal Genève, Vacheron Constantin or Jaeger-LeCoultre, has continued to grow. One of the collaborations between Jaeger-LeCoultre and Hermes gave rise to the Etrier watch with a Jaeger movement, a stand-out classic of the 1960s.
