Catalogue Note The reference 2915 as a whole was only in production from 1957 to 1959, and therefore there are very few surviving examples. The present lot is from the second iteration of the first Speedmaster, which is identical to the 2915-1; in fact, the only difference is the case back number as even movement serial numbers are intertwined between the two. The early Speedmasters all had minor variations, particularly to the bezel. Some examples feature flat 3’s on the 300, some rounded, some with serifs and others without. Some of the bezels are believed to never have had the black paint applied to the numerals.

  Description : The movement is running and chronograph is functioning, however it might soon need to be cleaned and oiled. The movement is numbered 15996504. The dial appears to be original, however it is significantly aged. There is a scratch to the center just over the center arbor between the subsidiary dials. The luminescent batons have aged and are dirty throughout. The luminescent paint to the hands has all come off. The case is missing the bezel and otherwise shows general wear throughout. The outside of the back is factory-engraved Speedmaster, however there is no Seamonster in the center. The inside of the back is numbered 2915-1..The strap contains endangered species, please see Important Notices for further information.

Dial has aged nicely but without creating any spottings or discoloration and remains in good condition. Original Omega bracelet from the period. Case with a few very minor scuffs, but overall it's a beautiful example of the reference. Ref. 2915-2..MVT number is 15997819 circa 1957.

  Description : The movement is running, however we recommend service and cleaning soon. It is numbered 16649806. The dial shows some age and discoloration, however it appears to be in nice condition. There appears to be remnants of printing underneath the word 'Speedmaster', however that is very faint. The luminescent paint has aged consistantly. The case shows general wear and light surface scuffs. The inside of the back is stamped 2915-2. The bracelet is in nice condition and is stamped 1039.
