C'est en 1953 que débute la saga Submariner.,Notre exemplaire 5514, produit par Rolex afin d'équiper les plongeurs de la COMEX (Compagnie Maritime d'Expertise) d'une montre outil ultra fiable est sans nul doute l'un des plus rares.,Dans sa construction, ce modèle rappelle la fameuse 5513, mais avec ce signe distinctif sur la carrure du boîtier: la valve à hélium. Par certains points, il rappelle aussi la référence 5517 fabriquée uniquement pour les forces d'élite de la Royal Navy de l'armée britannique.,Cet exemplaire est d'autant plus rare, qu'il provient directement du plongeur à qui cette montre a été délivrée, et qui l'a accompagnée lors de ses expéditions dans toutes les mers du monde pour des missions spéciales et parfois périlleuses. Bien plus qu'une montre, un outil, un élément de survie, qui a affronté des conditions extrêmes, tout en conservant une belle patine d'origine.,Sans doute l'une des dernières versions produites, offerte pour la première fois aux enchères, cette Comex 5514 est une belle opportunité d'acquérir une montre historique.
